A return to war gameing

Hi

Firstly welcome to the blog its great to again have time to do this again and talk about the gaming I love with things like Warhammer Total War and 8th edition never has there been a better time to come back to the hobbies and get gaming.

I must say that for those of use on a tighter budget I feel like 40k has taken a good number of steps either on its own or through fans to be more accessible. As of now that being 14/02/2018 it looks like index books are still available and for the value you get I must say one of the best things they did for 40k now the reason I like them is more because in the UK it is hard to find people to play with so its often for me more a matter of getting others to play like its more of a board game this can add a lot of additional cost as you have to collect a lot of armies to keep it interesting something I hope one day to live in area that dose allow for less of this.

My return will I hope involve looking at the now updated Kill team game made by the following lovely people.

http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.co.uk/p/kill-team-rules.html

Here you will find all the rules for a more small scale level of 40k with a lot of upgrades and abilities i think it will suit those of you more into a fun easy going game as well as those of use with less table space. While terrain will always i think be a interesting problem over time I hope to show and talk about good alternatives and options for those of use with limited options or little storage.

Firstly all I will be making assumptions from is that you have the index books not new codex's this is because for me as a self contained set you can have the index book for all the armies as all the armies only ever include the infantry as part of the selections and tanks and such are not important its a cheaper more simple game to get into this is further compounded by the fact that with just one book or 2 you get a good number of the armies in the game. It is from this that I will review and discuss tactics and value however over time I am sure the points will move around.

So what is Warhammer Kill teams and what dose this game involve you doing? Why should you take the time to look at the pdfs that are provided and build around this?

Firstly those of you who have played the game will know this but the game is normally played at 250 points which is a very small number this makes miniatures feel more like a group of heroes humans of marines are all special and can take on a character all of there own the game is more terrain focused which is good because if you wanna scale up to full 40k you will need a lot of terain as for multi level terrain its quite hard to get on the cheep but we will look at ways to pack it out and do it on the cheep!

So to put it simply the game is one like D and D in a way with a war game you get the best of both and the game is not long winded or time consuming. People have played it and YouTube is a wealth of content to look through so go there look it up watch some games and see what you think of it much like mordhime this is a small scale character building game!

As a note those of you who like war band based games might also want to look at infinity as a option this is also cheaper because its rules are free and a lot of the terrain I will recommend will come from.

If you have any requests as I slowly make my way through all of this do let me know.

Over the next few days we will look at the rules of the game and go through them and then begin the review of each armies including value and a look at how to build them alwase looking to keep it cheep!!

Happy Wargameing
