A return to war gameing
Firstly welcome to the blog its great to again have time to do this again and talk about the gaming I love with things like Warhammer Total War and 8th edition never has there been a better time to come back to the hobbies and get gaming.
I must say that for those of use on a tighter budget I feel like 40k has taken a good number of steps either on its own or through fans to be more accessible. As of now that being 14/02/2018 it looks like index books are still available and for the value you get I must say one of the best things they did for 40k now the reason I like them is more because in the UK it is hard to find people to play with so its often for me more a matter of getting others to play like its more of a board game this can add a lot of additional cost as you have to collect a lot of armies to keep it interesting something I hope one day to live in area that dose allow for less of this.
My return will I hope involve looking at the now updated Kill team game made by the following lovely people.
http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.co.uk/p/kill-team-rules.html
Here you will find all the rules for a more small scale level of 40k with a lot of upgrades and abilities i think it will suit those of you more into a fun easy going game as well as those of use with less table space. While terrain will always i think be a interesting problem over time I hope to show and talk about good alternatives and options for those of use with limited options or little storage.
Firstly all I will be making assumptions from is that you have the index books not new codex's this is because for me as a self contained set you can have the index book for all the armies as all the armies only ever include the infantry as part of the selections and tanks and such are not important its a cheaper more simple game to get into this is further compounded by the fact that with just one book or 2 you get a good number of the armies in the game. It is from this that I will review and discuss tactics and value however over time I am sure the points will move around.
So what is Warhammer Kill teams and what dose this game involve you doing? Why should you take the time to look at the pdfs that are provided and build around this?
Firstly those of you who have played the game will know this but the game is normally played at 250 points which is a very small number this makes miniatures feel more like a group of heroes humans of marines are all special and can take on a character all of there own the game is more terrain focused which is good because if you wanna scale up to full 40k you will need a lot of terain as for multi level terrain its quite hard to get on the cheep but we will look at ways to pack it out and do it on the cheep!
So to put it simply the game is one like D and D in a way with a war game you get the best of both and the game is not long winded or time consuming. People have played it and YouTube is a wealth of content to look through so go there look it up watch some games and see what you think of it much like mordhime this is a small scale character building game!
As a note those of you who like war band based games might also want to look at infinity as a option this is also cheaper because its rules are free and a lot of the terrain I will recommend will come from.

If you have any requests as I slowly make my way through all of this do let me know.
Over the next few days we will look at the rules of the game and go through them and then begin the review of each armies including value and a look at how to build them alwase looking to keep it cheep!!

Warhammer starter sets
i have to say for me these are some of the most exciting and rewarding sets given out by gw with rules and formations in the box each one is a little element to add to the game and even better a great way to start out and build up a great set to work with i love these set more than just about anything else they have done in the past this is because as i see it you can collect a whole set or armies to let others play with or start off small and whats even better is the synergy with the box sets they have done in the past each and every one with their own rules now you can play them all ageist each other this will add a lot to the game i think and make it more accessible to the starter
so what do i want to say about them buy them first and love them paint them get a taste of the game get them from the cheaper stores because that discount can give you that 3 or 4 color minimum to get started and on the bord and into the game this is something i hope they support with tournaments about the boxes and such that i don't know but hope are balanced if so this would be a amazing fun way to play with lots of other players and really get the maximum out of the hobbies friends and people to talk to being important to make anything work.
anyway its my take on these things but I look at things and the balance was pretty good the formations well make a big difference the ones i worry about are namely the orks which i look at as the weakest of the boxes but special rules could make a big difference.
Anyway everyone hope you agree do let me know if you have any other worries and ideas as a side note i think these on a 4 by 4 would work best rather than a 6 by 4 which would be too big lots of terrain being important if you are interested in this idea and in keeping with the price levels i would take a look at this link for cheep terrain and maybe get two

Warhammer YouTube part 2
this is a dream planning wise what i have thought about is a few things i have as pointers not that they come as a surprise firstly is looking at what you film while you talk assuming your not reviewing something miniatures that are different tends to be where i would go mostly important to use images as a way to show what you want to talk about this is not always easy but with some terrain and some atmosphere i wonder if this can help to make videos even better i look at a more simple thing that one can do in this regard not for props the thing that first comes to mind for someone using just a phone is props that are cheep and work well this instantly makes me think of the infinity paper terrain its great for setting and well your best miniature or most related miniature to what your saying such things i think encorage you to make new models all the time and relay do the best you can.
well its not much but its some thing hopefully you enjoy this short one and happy wargaming!
Big games v small games
http://thewarmaster.com/
other things i suggest are blogs themselves of which i could recommend one mainly
http://imperatorguides.blogspot.co.uk/
Anyway moving on from this back to the topic at hand i talk alot about the small games this is where i feel the atmosphere and the grim dark as a story can be told and its why i push it so much im not big on super competitive lists i like a more general approach that looks to bring what you want and hopefully play those simmiler minded sometimes if you dont its a challenge set the seen as one of a despret last stand and have a secondary objective say to have something on the board at the end of the game this is what i have alwase wanted in 40k but that dosent mean being a general commander over viewing the bigger battle fields cant have this i suppose the focus cannot be on one individual because as the game simulates so well its a dark world where people die ever moment and there is no brake from the reality of life in the dark world of 40k and it is evident that from this in the big battles where even if you did have a squad with a narative the could be wiped out so what is your job as comander?
This is where narrative can get in the way you want to win but maybe that squad you feel from the fluff wouldn't do the sensible thing games are unpredictable by nature so why not take a few risks including units that are throw away and add a element of risk and life to the board make the games more interesting and challenging not that i say this well help you win of coarse but wining isent alwase the aim dieing sometimes can be this is where multiple game god forbid you have the time in big games is a big deal because that tell a big story where small ones develop charicter and inform big games.
Finally sometimes just go nuts big games are fun full of smack talk and banter so why not kick back and enjoy as my friend dose theirs no harm in it and while I am all about the narrative that dose not mean the game cant tell a story of its own what i hope i have done is plant a seed of interest in different ideas and ways to keep the game living.
Happy wargammeing!
Lots going on in life
Happy war gaming!

Your Avatar and friends part 3
They are your wing man putting you on your best form their to support all around you i see this while it wont work in conventional kill team set ups a great way to build a force all options i see the tecmarine the captain and the librarian all great for all builds and able to give you flexibility for points cost this is how i would start my marine force it gives you a band of merry men to fall behind and too root for this may cloud some tactical destions but the game is one of chance so why not gamble at times these elements of the people you know make the game more than just win or lose glory and heroism are the core of this game save your friend from certain death or recover the corps to take back home.
I suppose the kick I am currently on is how to make the game big but keep the small elements that make kill team so good that connection to your force if only each man could mean something to you then you could fight knowing who they are what stories that have been through what heroes they are for humanity and their faith in the emperor this is what will make the big games seem more than just attrition hard decisions and decisive moves using the life's of those you know make the game more griping more difficult and thus more compelling warhammer is played at the tip of a knife edge and the Galaxy needs those ready to lay down there and others life's to protect it but whose life's is your choice because they may shape the future for humanity this is the moment you must capture the desperate heroism of mans finest or darkest hours it is 11 59 on the doomsday clock and you are all that stands between hope and destruction in a universe filled with war.
Happy wargaming!

Continuation of your avatar and friends
I guess we have all done it nameing characters as friends they embody something and bringing them adds to the immersion in your game so who and what can this do last time we talked about space marine captains and now I want to talk about the tecmarine its a great tool box hard as nails and a good points value for what it brings lots of upgrades as options so I wonder could this be your tecky friend or you titan of a mate able to back you up take command at the drop of a hat or be dispensed to do you bidding when points won't let you go after all you are important it also a great way to lure a friend into playing avatars draw us all so is their a guy you know how embodies this and what do you think of this?
What's even better is its a nice set up to become a small group playing kill team where you can both play as your miniatures and each command half of the force.
What I like most about this guys is for the points and with the upgrades he can serve so many diffrent segments from being a bug gun that's hard to kill or being a utility deadly in combat and able to repair those vehicles you need. What I also likes is such characters add a element of someone who can complete additional missions hack a terminal repair a relic you name it they can do this as a additional mission point it's another thing that infinity dose well and warhammer should follow.
Anyway theirs my take happy wargameing!!!
